Doing a thesis at ERUDITE

Doing a thesis at ERUDITE

To register for a thesis at ERUDITE, the candidate must obtain the agreement of a research supervisor (a lecturer with the HDR accreditation to direct research or a university professor). To do so, we invite you to apply early (generally in May-June of the desired year of registration) by sending an up-to-date curriculum vitae, a cover letter, the transcript of the latest diploma obtained as well as a thesis proposal of at least 5 pages excluding the bibliography. In order to increase the chances of obtaining an agreement, it is advisable to request a supervisor whose research themes are close to the one on which the thesis project is based and to ensure that the subject is clearly linked to one of ERUDITE's structural axes. The ERUDITE website lists the professors and their publications. Only once the agreement of a research supervisor has been obtained can the candidate submit an application for thesis registration.

After having requested a thesis supervisor and having obtained his or her support to oversee your work, you must seek, from the first semester of the registration year, funding for your thesis (doctoral grant from the OMI Doctoral School, CIFRE thesis, research contract funding, etc.). With some exceptions, only candidates with funding can register for a thesis at ERUDITE.

Step 1: Application for a first registration at ERUDITE
In all cases, candidates must submit an application to the Laboratory Council at the end of August. They will be auditioned at the beginning of September.

Each application must include the following documents:

1) A cover letter from the candidate
2) A letter of support from the prospective thesis supervisor
3) A CV
4) The thesis proposal (5 pages maximum presenting the originality and relevance of the problematic, elements of literature, methodology, expected results, an indicative bibliography, and also a preliminary thesis plan)
5) A Master 2 transcript of marks
6) The Master 2 thesis (or the internship report)

Step 2: Application for a doctoral grant from the OMI Doctoral School
This stage concerns candidates who wish to apply for a doctoral grant from the OMI Doctoral School, who do not have any other funding and who have been selected by the Laboratory Council. A specific application must be submitted at the beginning of September. The selected candidates will be auditioned a second time, this time before the OMI ED Council. The ranking of the candidates is established by the jury which transmits a validated list to the Scientific Council of the Comue Université Paris-Est.

Step 3: Formal registration at the OMI Doctoral School

After receiving prior approval from a thesis supervisor and the director of the laboratory which will be hosting you, the Doctoral School will be informed of your application.

You will receive an acceptance email from the Doctoral School inviting you to create your ADUM profile from the following linkhttps://www.adum.fr/index.pl

In your "personal account", you have access to a "Questions" section where you will find many answers to your questions.

- Submit the supporting documents requested by the Doctoral School (theseare mandatory and must be submitted in a single PDF file).
- Make sure you complete all the sections so that the steps show up as "green - validated".

- Your thesis supervisor will receive an email and will have to log on to their profile (they have an access in their name as a thesis supervisor), he will give his opinion and validate your file.
- The opinion of the director of the research unit and the director of the Doctoral School will follow, and then the authorisation to register will be given by the head of the institution.

You will then receive an email inviting you to contact the school of your home institution with details of the formalities to be followed and the payments you will have to make (CVEC: Contribution de Vie Étudiante et Campus, i.e. student and campus life contribution - and tuition fees). Once your application has been registered and the registration fees have been paid, the Education Department (Service Scolarité) will issue your student card and registration documents.
