6th MAGECO Day on Agent-Based Computational Economics

Organised by the MAGECO network http://mageco.lip6.fr/
Friday 7th December 2018 – Créteil

Agent-based computational economics models are now numerous and the initial extreme reserve with which the scientific community of economists regarded them has given way to a certain intellectual interest, even if there is still a demand for clarification of the construction methodology and a need to make the validation procedures more robust. Forecasters and public decision-makers are now interested in agent-based models. These models differ from micro-simulation models in that they are defined as being based on the decisions of individual heterogeneous agents that may be located at different interlocking levels. These agents interact, either directly with each other or through markets whose organisation is precisely defined.

The number of international publications and the recognition of agent-based models as one of the possible ways of understanding the financial crisis (where macroeconomic models have generally failed) have convinced us of the importance of interdisciplinary dialogue. One of the objectives of MAGECO is to bring together French researchers, economists and computer scientists using this methodology for them to collaborate.
